"Transform food waste into opportunity with AI."

EcoEat makes reducing food waste simple, accessible, and impactful. It’s a platform where businesses and individuals connect to sell, donate, or find surplus food with ease. Designed for maximum efficiency, EcoEat empowers users to act sustainably without added complexity. For individuals, EcoEat is a tool for giving or finding food locally. With an AI assistant, users can quickly post surplus food by simply snapping a photo, no tedious forms, no confusion. Gamified features track the weight of food saved and calculate the positive environmental impact, turning sustainability into an engaging experience. Businesses benefit from advanced tools like bulk uploads and AI-driven suggestion, making it easy to manage surplus inventory and connect with bulk buyers or charitable organizations.

How it works

This video introduces EcoEat’s product flow, guiding viewers through log in, sustainability scoring, and personalized insights. The visuals emphasize how the app translates everyday food choices into meaningful environmental impact awareness.

Main Features

I identified AI and gamification as major opportunities, introducing AI-powered posting feature that scans single or multiple food items and auto-generates posts after capturing an image. Additionally, I integrated green energy rewards to boost engagement and raise awareness about reducing surplus food.

01. AI powered Auto Posting

Point your camera and post in a snap, powered by AI.

02. Contribution, Gamified, Visualized

Showcase the environmental impact and fostering deeper engagement.

03. Post in Batch

Scanning multiple items and post in one at once.

04. Content Management System

Manage and track environmental impacts for businesses, fostering sustainability and improvement.

Research

Why food waste matters? 170 millions metric tons CO2 yearly (EPA), food waste = emissions from 42 coal plants, 30% -40% of U.S. food wasted (USDA)

Design Thinking

Research showed that food waste is driven less by missing solutions and more by low awareness, weak motivation, and difficulty taking action. While existing products like Facebook Marketplace, Too Good To Go, Uber Eats, and Connecteam address parts of the ecosystem, none focus specifically on food waste as a behavior-change problem.

This revealed an opportunity to bridge information distribution and awareness in an engaging, actionable way for users struggling with food waste. EcoEat is designed as a B2B and B2C platform that leverages gamification, AI-powered content creation, and data visualization to lower participation barriers, motivate users, and encourage sustainable behavior change.
